For over a decade, The Inspirational Leader has armed people with the tools and the confidence to maximise their potential in leading businesses and unlocking the potential within their individuals.
However, the world is constantly changing and today’s business area requires a new kind of leadership to meet a new set of challenges.
Today’s workforce is multi-generational, with each generation having very different needs and wants, which means one size of leadership does not fit all.
According to the Chartered Management Institute, in the UK alone there are approximately 2.4 million untrained ‘accidental managers’, with poor management costing circa £84 billion a year. Developing your leaders and managers has never been more important to your business.
Over the last 6 months we have been engaging with clients, running focus groups and carrying out detailed research on what skills leaders and managers really need and we have developed The Purposeful Leader. This is a next generation programme, to meet the real-world needs of today’s leaders, managers and businesses.
This is not simply a change of programme title to The Purposeful Leader. There has been a complete evolution of existing content, as well as brand new modules, such as The Resilient You and The Time Bank, along with a whole range of supporting resources.
So why The Purposeful Leader?
To be purposeful is to be resilient and have the agility, determination, resolve and focus to succeed.
The Purposeful Leader gives your leaders and managers the mindset, skillset and toolset they need to achieve their personal and professional goals and to deliver results for your organisation. It enables them to lead with clarity, solve complex problems with critical thinking skills and harness emotional intelligence. Your leaders and managers will have a clear vision for where they are going, WHY and how they are going to get there.
A report for the CIPD, the professional body for HR and people development, by The University of Sussex, found that individuals are happier and more productive when their leaders show a clear vision and a commitment to stakeholders. All part of the growing importance of purposeful leadership.
Today’s next-generation leaders and managers need to be purposeful in the way they think, feel and act. The leader is the HERO in the story.
They need to be ‘enabled’ as well as ‘empowered’ because empowerment without enablement is a train crash.
Our approach to developing leadership capability is based on three tracks; I lead Self, I Lead the Business and I Lead Others.
Here are just a few examples of the brand new modules we have added to the updated existing content:
Why Should Anyone be Led By You – The starting point in any journey towards more purposeful leadership is understanding what you want your legacy to be. Leaders need clarity on what they want their teams, colleagues and senior leaders within the business to say about them. They need to have authenticity.
Change readiness.. Thinking differently; Agility, Relevance and Organisational Resilience – In a dynamic environment, change leadership is not a ‘nice to have’, it’s a MUST have and a fundamental part of business. At the core of this module is the transformational change framework and key principle of lead – drive – change.
The Time Bank – In a modern commercial world where everyone is expected to achieve more with less, the ability to get things done is increasingly more stressful and challenging. This part of the programme concentrates on effective self-management and having a leaser beam focus, with a ruthless prioritisation of activities and workload.
Customer Focus – Businesses need to think, feel and act differently in their engagement strategy with clients and customers. Old ways of thinking and acting will just not cut it in a customer experience economy. This module helps your leaders understand what it is to build a customer-centric business, where in the minds of your clients you are the partner of choice.
The Leadership Challenge – The leadership challenge is ultimately, how are leaders and managers going to do more with less. What people want and need from their leaders is changing. This module addresses how to be consistently different in order to embrace the changing generational needs and wants, new ways of working and the changing dynamics of the modern business environment.
